Summary

What we collect

Your reading content. Articles, books, files, highlights, notes and progress are stored on your device. They are never sent to us. When you save an article from a link, your device fetches that page directly from the website, the same way a browser would. That website sees your request; we do not.

Purchases. Unpile Pro is sold through Apple. Apple handles payment and keeps your billing details. We do not receive your name, email or payment information. We receive an anonymous record that a subscription or purchase is active so the app can unlock Pro.

Paywall service (Superwall). The screen that offers Unpile Pro is delivered by Superwall, a third-party service. When that screen is shown or used, Superwall receives: a device identifier (Apple's per-developer vendor identifier, or an anonymous ID Superwall generates), basic device details (model, iOS version, language, region, app version), which paywall was shown and what was tapped, and purchase events such as trial started, subscribed, renewed or cancelled. If you answer the optional setup questions when you first open the app, a few of those answers (for example your reading goal and the kinds of things you read) are also sent so the offer can reflect them. We do not send your name, email or anything you read. This data is used only to run the paywall and to keep your purchase state correct. It is not used for advertising and is not linked to your identity. See Superwall's privacy policy.

Usage analytics. Unpile does not send usage analytics. The app includes analytics and ad-attribution libraries that are switched off and send nothing. The analytics switch in Settings does not change what leaves your device.

Crash reports. Unpile does not use a crash-reporting service. If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may pass anonymized crash logs to us. You control this in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.

Camera and photos. If you scan a printed page or pick an image, the text is read from it on your device. Images are not uploaded anywhere.

On-device AI. Recall checks and explanations use Apple's on-device language model on devices that support it. Your text does not leave your device for these features.

Listen. Spoken audio is produced by the voices built into iOS, on your device.

Backups

Unpile does not sync your library to our servers. If you use iCloud Backup or Finder backups, Apple may include Unpile's data in your device backup under your own Apple account. We cannot read it.

Third-party services

No other third party receives data from Unpile. We do not use advertising networks, and there are no ads in the app.

Children

Unpile is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app has no account, we hold no personal information about any user.

Your rights and choices

If you are in the EU, UK or another region with data-protection laws, you have the rights those laws give you. Email us to exercise them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. We will not lower the protections described above without telling you in the app.
